Wiz-tober

As everyone knows Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays.  Is it because it’s 4 days before my birthday (send gifts)? No.  Is it because I’m the cool kid for exactly one month because of my amazing knowledge of horror films?  No.  Is it because every single show in existence ever has always had a badass Halloween episode? YES!

The Disney Channel is no exception to this rule.  This year is the second official year of Wiz-tober.  An entire month hosted by the cast of “Wizards of Waverly Place” where they show a horror episodes and horror movies every day of the month until Halloween.  Okay, I shouldn’t say horror, I should say Disney horror, big difference.  I can’t help myself though, my love of Disney Channel and anything horror combine this one great month.  Shows like “Jonas”, “Wizards”, and even “Hannah Montana” have Halloween episodes.

Most of the movies are a miss, however they do always start the month off with gems like the “Halloweentown” series and “Mostly Ghostly”.  These are, of course, movies and shows for young children, however it takes me back to the days of TGIF when “Family Matters” and “Boy Meets World” would have these types of episodes and get me so pumped up for Halloween.

Wiz-tober also gives me hope for all future horror generations.  Now, I am still highly against the mass marketed costumes that they will all dress up in as they go Trick-or-Treating, but the shows and very much Disney-fied films are an incredible way for kids to experience the fun of horror.  The films are about monsters, ghosts, witches, and even zombies!  I give Disney Channel all due credit for dedicating a month to this and proclaiming it so highly.

Now keep in mind, if you’re tuning in hoping to see “Disney’s Dawn of the Dead”, you will be sorely disappointed.  Lucio Fulci was not involved in the direction of these films.  However, if you are interested in just mindless watching of pseudo-scary, yet totally entertaining movies and shows tune in.
