Tokyo Gore Police
Feb 14, 2009 | No Comments | @andrewmarcecTokyo Gore Police is the latest release from Tokyo Shock. If you can’t tell by the name, Tokyo Shock releases films that push the envelope with gore/sex/and the just plain weird. This is nothing new though, Lloyd Kaufman has been doing these sorts of films with Troma for 35 years.
Keeping that in mind, Tokyo Gore Police definitely delivers the goods. Seriously, this film is so bizzare that when it was over I needed to take a moment and think to myself “what the hell was that?”
Dead prostitutes have been found throughout Tokyo and it is up to Riku to solve the crime. She has always wanted to be a police officer just like her father, and dives deep into the murders to find out who the culprit is. This leads her to find out about a group of people called the engineers. These are genetically altered humans who can regenerate missing limbs with mutated biological weapons. She makes it her primary objective to rid Tokyo of all engineers. She is pulled into their web upon a chance meeting with the engineer’s creator and becomes what she has been hunting.
This movie is incredibly odd, but I will say the make-up effects were excellent. It takes a bit for the story to really unfold, that and the fact that you go through two very different plot lines, one of which is never fully resolved. Though the plots are weak viewers are really drawn to finish the movie soley to see how insane it gets. See below for images and videos.
If you are in the mood for an incredibly weird film that might make you question your sanity I’d say give this one a shot.

There are also little segments that focus on, what I can only assume, are big issues in Japan at the moment. There are several ads throughout the film that focus on several things like suicide clubs, comitting Hara-Kiri, and the privatization of the police force. Video clips below….
