New Orleans – Day Two

Sep 30, 2009 | No Comments | @andrewmarcec

Went on a cemetery and voodoo tour.  Walked the very famous St. Louis Cemetery Number One and saw and spoke with an official voodoo priestess.  She was nice enough to take us into her alter that was filled with odd trinkets and donations.  There is money everywhere, yet she says that not one dollar has ever been stolen from her.

In the cemetery the photos of the tombs with XXX written on them are the 2 supposed locations of the burial site of Marie LeVeau, a famous voodoo priestess.  Also, there is a statue in the cemetery with the word “Italia” carved underneath, if you have seen the film “Easy Rider” you will know this as the statue Peter Fonda is sitting in.  Once the locals saw this film, and were outraged at what took place in the cemetery, they banned all filming in the cemetery.  So any film you see that is set in St. Louis number 1…is not.
