Say Goodbye To The Infomercial

Everyone knows Billy Mayes if not by name then by the incredible selection of products that he has invented and terrified people into buying. From Oxy Clean to Mighty Putty, Billy Mayes allowed regular DIYers like you and I to fix anything known to man. His infomercials were and audio specialist’s nightmare with how much he shouted, and people sometimes bought his products out of fear, but the man was a genius. His products worked, and he knew how to sell them to customers.
His latest feat was a show on Discovery Channel called “Pitchmen”, a show that chronicled him and Anthony Sullivan in their jobs in direct response marketing. Both Mayes and Sullivan recently appeared Conan O’Brien.
Mayes was aboard flight 1241 from Philedelphia to Tampa that blew out its tires upon landing. Though everyone survived many complained of bumps and bruises from falling objects. It is unclear whether this contributed to his death.
All I can think is that Billy was onto the one product that would clean and fix EVERYTHING at once, his knowledge was too great. Television will never be the same.
